A Speech Day fit for a Paralympic Gold Medallist!

Both the Headmaster and pupils’ were delighted to welcome Rachel Morris as Guest of Honour at our annual Speech Day in July. Proudly wearing her Gold and Bronze Paralympic medals, won in Beijing and London respectively, Rachel began the afternoon’s proceedings’ speaking directly to the children on what it takes to be a medal winner. Spellbound by her enthusiasm and commitment, you could have heard a pin drop in the grand marquee as Rachel spoke of how she overcame her disability in order to achieve her dreams, concluding, “never let anything stand in your way; set yourself a goal and go for it!” Following a rapturous applause from the packed audience, Rachel joined the Headmaster in presenting the end of year prizes to the proud recipients before joining parents and staff at our end of term drinks reception; a truly inspiring and delightful Guest of Honour.

Finally, on behalf of all of us at St. Ed’s, many congratulations Rachel on your richly deserved gold medal in Rio!
