Polar Exploration

Forms 9 to 11 were joined by Jamie Anderson last week, a keen adventurer who last winter, along with two fellow explorers, travelled one of the most iconic polar routes, the North West Passage. A 1800 mile expanse of dynamic sea ice, the team travelled unsupported (no resupplies or power-assistance) with only two dogs travelling alongside as polar bear watchdogs. Their expedition was one of the toughest challenges to take on, a combination of skiing, walking and swimming in utterly freezing temperatures and Jamie’s presentation was simply fascinating as he shared his experiences with his gripped audience.
