IAPS Judo - medal success for Seb and Charlie

Congratulations to Sebastian Dubois (Bronze) and Charlie Hickley (Silver), for representing St. Edmunds in the IAPS Judo Championships for Boys aged 8-9yrs, held at the High Wycombe Judo Centre on Saturday 13th May. The annual event which attracted 23 of the country’s leading prep schools, proved to be a hotly contested display of Judo with 139 Judoka taking to the mat Sebastian and Charlie fought gallantly in their respectful weight groups to finish amongst the medals and to stake their claim on the podium. The boys put together some impressive Judo performances, throwing and holding their way to victory, displaying some lovely Judo in their first ever competition. Toby Hallam and Teddy Henry also making their competitive debuts notched up some good wins, putting together some impressive displays of Judo. Unfortunately for the boys they missed out on a medal losing in the bronze medal play off final finishing in a credible 5th Place each. Invaluable experience was gained for Joshua Taylor, William Rudd, Leonardo Dubois, Finn McEwan and Theo Williams. The boys despite being disappointed in not finishing in the medals thoroughly enjoyed the day, stepping up to the challenge showing lots of courage and promise. I am very proud of the character and sportsmanship they all displayed. Thank you to the parents who travelled to support the Judoka
