Welcome Andy Mulligan

One of the highlights of our Book Week activities was welcoming the popular author Andy Mulligan, who joined Forms 7-10 in an incredibly hands-on work shop. Best known for writing young-adult fiction his most known novels include Trash (now also a film screen-written by Richard Curtis), the Ribblestrop series and the Boy with 2 Heads. To help stimulate his audience’s creative writing skills, he asked everyone to write their own story starting with the sentence, “my name is ….. and I am a …..” Having worked as a volunteer in Calcutta and as an English and drama teacher in Brazil, Vietnam and the Philippines, Andy spoke of how his work is strongly influenced by his experiences and when writing a story, that is where inspiration is founded. Who knows how many future authors’ he may have shaped during his time at St. Ed’s.
