Congratulations to Adelaide Matson for winning Gold in the U44Kg category and Madelaine Murrin for winning bronze in U40Kg category at the Judo tournament ‘Just for girls ‘aged 7-16yrs held at the IAPS ‘Just for girls’ Judo tournament held at the High Wycombe Judo Centre on Saturday 28th January 2017.

The revamped tournament ‘opened its doors’ to even more prep and independent schools, taking on a new lease of life with 120 competitors in attendance, a huge success. The Standard of Judo on display was very impressive and highly competitive, which made for great viewing.

In the under 12 age group, a relieved Madelaine Murrin achieved medal success in her fourth IAPS competition putting in an impressive performance, battling hard to take 3rd place. She won her opening two matches with some lovely Judo. In the semi-final she came up against the eventual gold medallist and lost out in an evenly fought contest. Determined not to let the result of the previous match get the better of her, a determined and focused Madelaine kept her nerve throwing her opponent to victory and taking the bronze.

In the over 12 age group, Adelaide Matson has set a new School Judo record winning her fifth IAPS title, an impressive record winning 5 Gold medals across 5 competitions. Adelaide made light work against her opponents quickly dispatching them in 10seconds or less throwing her way to victory.

Susanna Christie put in some impressive performances and handled herself very well on the mat dealing with the pressure of the competitive situations remarkably well. Susanna won three and lost two contests, finishing in 7th place. Despite not securing a medal she can take great pride in her efforts and performances and will have gained some valuable experiences that will no doubt benefit her in future Judo competitions.
