Drama/LAMDA
The Drama Department is a thriving department within the School, and offers all of the pupils many opportunities to engage within all areas of the stage.
Drama is a central part of life at St. Edmund’s with all pupils studying drama as part of their timetable from Form 3 upwards. With plenty of opportunities to perform, whether it is their class assembly or their “talent showcases”, our Lower Prep drama helps the children to build up their self-confidence, develop strong communication skills and bolster their leadership skills.
St. Edmund’s also enjoys a busy LAMDA department. LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) lessons are essentially Speech and Drama lessons that are offered to children from Form 3 onwards. These lessons are highly effective at developing self-confidence and communication skills whilst also providing a framework in which individual talent can grow in a fun environment.
For those with the love of performing it is an opportunity to develop their skill set further, build up their experience and receive UCAS points if they continue to take it to a high level.
For those pupils who find public speaking nerve-racking, or who perhaps struggle with shyness, this gives a platform to learn to believe in their abilities, trust in their instincts and to find their voice.
